Early Wednesday morning, a disturbing scene unfolded in Ficksburg when a man was found lying on the ground, sparking concerns among residents about a possible scam targeting vulnerable individuals.According to eyewitnesses, the man, identified as Mr. Khajane from Hlotse, Lesotho, was discovered by a passerby who suspected that he had consumed excessive amounts of alcohol. However, this incident marks the second time in recent weeks that a similar event has occurred, with the previous incident happening on November 4th, 2024.Residents are now sounding the alarm, suspecting that a scammer may be targeting individuals, particularly on SASSA payment days, by offering them alcohol laced with a substance that renders them unconscious. The scammer then allegedly robs them of their belongings.Fortunately, Mr. Khajane was rushed to Phutholoha Hospital, where he is receiving medical attention.
